Purdue Extension Lake County, in partnership with the Lake County Health Department, will be offering 4 lessons on how you can "Be Heart Smart". Registration is required for all sessions.
According to health indicators for Lake County, obesity, heart health, and diabetes prevalence rank about the state average. There is a growing need for prevention, support, and health management assistance for residents living in our area.
Be Heart Smart is a lecture-based program for individuals who want to learn more about preventing heart disease by making heart-healthy lifestyle changes. This program will teach participants how to monitor risk factors for heart disease and how to make simple changes to their daily routine that can improve their heart health. Participants are asked to attend all 4 lessons that will be taught by Linda Curley, Extension Educator, Health and Human Sciences.
Lesson 1 – Be Heart Smart - Know Your Risks - April 29th
Lesson 2 – Be Heart Smart - Know Your Numbers - May 6th
Lesson 3 – Be Heart Smart - Heart Healthy Eating - May 13th
Lesson 4 – Be Heart Smart - Take Action - May 20th
Participants will receive a free cookbook, program manual, and other incentives to help attendees “Be Heart Smart”. This program is funded in partnership with Lake County Health Department, Indiana.
