Oliver William Staton is a Japanese American filmmaker based in the Chicago metropolitan area. With a background in engineering working at Tesla, Oliver transitioned from solving technical challenges to exploring complex human experiences through film. He pursued formal training at the London Film School, where he developed his craft in writing and directing. His work delves into the nuanced intersection of cultures, particularly through an Asian American lens. Oliver's thesis film, Places We Knew, serves as a proof of concept for his feature-length projects, focusing on themes of identity and belonging.
