Celebrate summer at the library! This year's theme is "Libraries Rock!" All summer long, we'll be hosting events and classes for kids, teens, and adults centered around reading, music, and celebrating everything libraries do for your community. Summer Reading runs from June 1 July 31. All ages (including babies and adults) are invited to participate!

The Summer Reading Program would not be possible without support from the Friends of LCPL and the LCPL Foundation. The Friends have provided funding for all of our excellent events this year, while the Foundation provided funding for the great raffle prizes you can read about below.

All you have to do to participate is keep track of the number of pages you read. What about books that don't have page counts, though? Use this handy guide:

For Unpaged Items
Picture Books/Easy Readers: 30 pages Board Books: 10 pages
Graphic Novels: 200 pages Chapter Books: 100 pages
Nonfiction Books: 100 pages Magazines: 30 pages
Audiobooks, eBooks: Check the print version

Kids Summer Reading Goals

Kids ages 0-11 can read to win! Head to the library for your Summer Reading log and mark off the pages to earn prizes. Even if your child isn't reading on their own yet, you can count the pages you read aloud with them. The prizes are cumulative, so make sure you visit the library every 300 pages to pick up what you've won!

Pages Read Prize
300 4-person Railcats pass & 1 raffle ticket
600 Bookbag & 1 raffle ticket
900 A book & 1 raffle ticket
1200 A water bottle & 1 raffle ticket
every additional 300 1 raffle ticket

Read on! Libraries rock!

Teen Summer Reading Goals

Readers aged 11-17 can count pages for prizes. Track your book titles and pages on your Summer Reading log (which you can pick up at your favorite branch). For every 300 pages you receive one raffle ticket. Once you hit 600, you've earned a bookbag!

Looking for something to do between books? Check out our teen events!

Adult Summer Reading Goals

Readers age 18 and up just have to count pages! For every 300 pages read, you receive a raffle ticket. Stop by your favorite branch to register and pick up a reading log today!

Check Out the Raffle!

Here's how it works: Head to the library, pick up your reading log, and mark off pages read. When you earn raffle tickets, put them toward the prize or prizes you want to win. If you read enough pages, you could put a prize in every bucket - or concentrate all the tickets in one bucket for the prize you want the most. It's up to you!

Special thanks to the LCPL Foundation for making these great prizes possible!
