If you're interested in learning more about a specific, well-known person, these databases are the place to start.

This is also a good place to pick a topic for a paper or presentation on a person. For example, if you need to write a report on 1940s musicians, you can get a list to work from in these databases!

Biography in Context This link will take you to INSPIRE, where you can choose the Biography inContext database from a list. Biography inContext provides newspaper, magazine, and reference articles side-by-side. It's a great place to read several different sources easily!
Biography Reference Center Contains an excellent search engine for biographies: you can search for people by nationality, occupation, name, and more!
Contemporary Authors Search for authors by first name, last name, or both. Results include information about the author, bibliography, resources for further reading, and more!
Gale Virtual Reference Library Visit a virtual bookshelf containing e-textbooks on several topics. A good place to search if you have a specific person in mind already.

Something About the Author Thousands of illustrated biographical profiles of children's authors and illustrators, all in an easy-to-use interface. Handy features include the ability to print, e-mail, download and access content by "Inside this Entry" and "Inside this Volume."
